COMMUNION TIME IS NOT WASTED TIME

Pastor Tim P. Blaisure – 12/03/23 – Morning Message

Intro:

Over the last 9 weeks we have been going over things that some may say is a waste of time to do, that is why we are selecting these items to explain why they are not wasted time but are actually very important to take time and have:

1. Waiting Time is not wasted Time.

2. Studying Time is not wasted Time.

3. Praying Time is not wasted time.

4. Praising Time is not wasted time.

5. Memorizing Time is not wasted time.

6. Family Time is not wasted Time.

7. Believing Time is not wasted Time.

8. Thanksgiving time is not wasted time

9. Encouraging time is not wasted time.

10. Today: COMMUNION TIME IS NOT WASTED TIME.

The meaning of Communion

· The service of Christian worship at which bread and wine are blessed and shared to remember the sacrifice of our Lord Jesus.

Foundation Scriptures:

1 Corinthians 10:16/23-32 NKJV

“I speak as to wise men; judge for yourselves what I say.

16 The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ?

I. COMMUNION TIME IS FOR REMEMBERING CHRIST DEATH:

23 For I received from the Lord that which I also delivered to you: that the Lord Jesus on the same night in which He was betrayed took bread;

24 and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, “Take, eat; this is My body which is broken for you; do this in remembrance of Me.”

25 In the same manner He also took the cup after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood. This do, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me.”

26 For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death till He comes.

A. Remember How much Jesus loves everyone.

B. Remember how much our sins costs.

C. Rember the stripes and thorns Jesus bore for our Healing.

Isaiah 53:5 NKJV

“But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed.”

1. Jesus Body was beaten for healing of our physical bodies.

2. Jesus was bruised for our inner healing.

D. Remember He died on the cross to pay the price of our sins, so that God’s grace would be extended to all so that we could have a choice between life everlasting and eternal death.

I. COMMUNION TIME IS FOR EXAMINING YOURSELF:

27 Therefore whoever eats this bread or drinks this cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord.

28 But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of the bread and drink of the cup.

29 For he who eats and drinks in an unworthy manner eats and drinks judgment to himself, not discerning the Lord’s body.

30 For this reason many are weak and sick among you, and many sleep.

31 For if we would judge ourselves, we would not be judged.

32 But when we are judged, we are chastened by the Lord, that we may not be condemned with the world.”

A. Communion Time reminds us to examine our lives for any sin we have not confessed.

B. Communion Time reminds us that Jesus paid a great price for our Salvation so we should not take it lightly.

C. Communion Time reminds us that it is our choice to choose to live unworthily or accept forgiveness and live a redeemed life.

D. Communion Time reminds us that we don’t have to live sick in our bodies or suffer the inner hurts that others or ourselves have caused, we can live not condemned but free if we examine ourselves and ask forgiveness.

Conclusion:

Communion Time is not wasted time!

Communion Time is very important, and we don’t have to wait and have Communion once a month, but we can take it as a family, or even personally. He said as often as you do this Remember Christ Death until He returns for us.
