Intro:
In that song: Home on The Range
A. Oh, GIVE ME A HOME,
B. WHERE SELDOM IS HEARD, A DISCOURAGING WORD
So, often we live in a house but really cannot call it a home. There is so much tearing down of each other and discouragement and pain that many don’t even want to go home.
We have been looking at:
1. Waiting Time is not wasted Time.
2. Studying Time is not wasted Time.
3. Praying Time is not wasted time.
4. Praising Time is not wasted time.
5. Memorizing Time is not wasted time.
6. Family Time is not wasted Time.
7. Believing Time is not wasted Time.
8. Thanksgiving time is not wasted time
9. Today: ENCOURAGEMENT TIME IS NOT WASTED TIME.
ENCOURAGEMENT – The action of giving someone confidence or hope.
Foundation Scriptures:
1 Thessalonians 5:10-11 NLT
“He (Jesus) died for us so that, whether we are awake or asleep, we may live together with him.
11 Therefore ENCOURAGE ONE ANOTHER AND BUILD EACH OTHER UP, just as in fact you are doing.”
I. ENCOURAGING TIME BRINGS HOPE:
Romans 15:4-6
“For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through the endurance taught in the Scriptures and the ENCOURAGEMENT they provide we might have hope.
5 May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you the same attitude of mind toward each other that Christ Jesus had,
6 so that with one mind and one voice you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.”
A. We need to take time to encourage each other in the Word of God which shows how others went through tough times, yet God brought them through, this gives us hope.
B. God takes the time to encourage us through His Word, acts of love, and He gives us hope in our present and for our future.
C. Jesus took time to encourage His disciples, and those who would listen to Him, we need to have the mind of Christ Jesus.
D. Encouraging Time brings a attitude of encouragement and changes the lives and attitudes of others.
II. ENCOURAGING TIME OPENS UP THE THINGS OF GOD TO US ALL:
Colossians 2:3-3
“My goal is that they may be ENCOURAGED in heart and united in love, so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding, in order that they may know the mystery of God, namely, Christ,
3 in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.”
A. Encouraging time gives us a goal from the heart and unites us in love.
B. Encouraging Time gives us the full riches of complete understanding.
C. Encouraging Time helps us know the mystery of God, Christ Jesus.
D. Encouraging Time opens up the hidden treasures of God’s wisdom and knowledge.
III. ENCOURAGING TIME THROUGH THE HOLY SPIRIT:
1 Corinthians 14:2-4
2 For anyone who speaks in a tongue does not speak to people but to God. Indeed, no one understands them; they utter mysteries by the Spirit.
3 But the one who prophesies speaks to people for their strengthening, ENCOURAGING and comfort.
4 Anyone who speaks in a tongue edifies themselves, but the one who prophesies edifies the church.
A. Encourage each other to be filled with the gift of the Holy Spirit.
B. Encourage yourself by speaking in the power of the Holy Spirit in tongues – the Spirit is encouraging our spirit.
C. Encourage others through the gift of prophecy , tongues, and interpretation.
D. Encourage each other to have the gifts of the Holy Spirit so that no matter where they are they can pray in the Holy Spirit and lift themselves out of despair and being overcome by the troubles of life.
Conclusion:
Discouraging time is a waste of time because it destroys lives.
But Encouraging Time is not wasted time because it restores lives.
We need to practice encouraging ourselves in the Holy Spirit and encouraging others with words of encouragement.
Encouraging words bring hope, love, joy, peace, purpose, and direction for those we sow them into.
Be a part of Encouraging Time and become a life changer.
